Brand New
...Although I was ridiculously excited for this concert, I was not in the state of euphoria I had imagined I would be in throughout the show. The opening bands were pretty good, but not quite to my taste (and they seemed like they'd be better on cd than live).
Brand New put on a great show... you could tell that frontman Jesse Lacey was feeling every word of every song (yay for emo). The energy in that room could have powered a small bomb. The downside to the fanatical fans was that every kid in there was singing along to every song, so instead of hearing the music of one of my favorite bands, I heard the scream/singing of the boy with eyeshadow and lip rings next to me.
You've got to give some credit to emo shows though: Instead of smelling like hot sweat in the pit, it just smelled like hair products.
